Balto Saves The Arctic

Maya and Victor from the Green Kids Club head to Arctic Ice Cap in this adventure, Balto Saves the Arctic. They meet up with their friend Ilauk and head out to go sledding. The Green Kids make the decision to take a dog sled instead of a snowmobile in order to have less impact on the arctic environment. The local orcas, arctic foxes, and harp seals soon learn that Victor and Maya are here to help them. While sledding across the frozen water, the ice cracks–sending them out to sea! With the help of their lead husky, Balto, the Green Kids struggle to make it back to safety.

This story teaches children about how global warming is affecting animals and their homes in the arctic. The book includes a science section, which shows young readers real photos and facts about the animals in the story.
